Visiting Presque Isle and looking for great food beyond Erie? Take the trip south to Union City and make Hitchy’s Townhouse Tavern part of your itinerary. Located right on Main Street, this locally owned tavern is operated by husband-and-wife team Jeremy and Emily Hitchcock and carries on Union City’s long tradition of having a “townhouse” at the downtown location. The restaurant has earned praise from diners for its friendly service, clean and well-kept setting, good-value food and large, inviting atmosphere.

Come hungry for a menu packed with tavern favorites, from grilled chicken salad and hearty burgers to wings, pizza and shareable appetizers. The boneless wings tossed in butter and garlic are a standout choice, while the restaurant’s current menu also features Townhouse Smash Burgers made with a sirloin-brisket blend, fresh-dough 12-inch pizzas and a variety of wing sauces and rubs. With 16 beers on tap, cocktails and a full bar, Hitchy’s is also a fun place to settle in for drinks after a day exploring the Erie region.

There’s plenty of reason to stick around after your meal, too. Hitchy’s offers multiple TVs for watching sports, premium sports channels and pay-per-view events, along with pool tables and live entertainment on select nights. The spacious setting works well for groups, while the casual atmosphere makes it equally easy to stop in for lunch, dinner or a drink.

    Hitchy’s Townhouse Tavern is open Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to midnight, with kitchen hours Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
