Don’t let the name fool you. 6 Little Monkeys in Corry, Pa., is not a daycare — it’s a bargain shopper’s paradise.
An overstock store in the former Country Peddler space, 6 Little Monkeys Corry Edition sells big-name department store merchandise at huge discounts. We’re talking bedding at 50% off retail; everyday items like fast-charger cords and water bottles at 2 for $5; and discounted diapers, toys, skincare, NFL team socks and men’s shaving essentials, to name a few. There’s truly something for everyone.
Store Manager Theresa Williams is proud of her entrepreneurial daughter, Adrienne Beimel, who started the business in Elk County back in 2013 with her sister-in-law, Trisha Beimel. The store was named after the collective 6 kids between the two of them.
Knowing how expensive it can be to shop for kids these days, the store was founded on providing “big-brand names, small-town prices.” Its location along one of the main roads to Warren, Erie and Spartansburg makes it super accessible. Usually, you’d have to hunt through secondhand stores to get unbeatable prices on everything from welcome mats to beach chairs to rugs; from pickleball paddles to telescopes to portable fans; and from chafing dishes, toiletries and office supplies to kitchenware, diapers, toys and Squishmallows. But here, the merchandise is brand-new from big-box retailers like Target and Sam’s Club — for a fraction of the original price.
The Beimels operate a huge warehouse and purchase 36-40 pallets that arrive by tractor-trailer each week. Being in the pallet sales business provides built-in joy for the 6 Little Monkeys Corry Edition staff, which includes Theresa’s sisters, Vickie and Dottie.
“It’s like Christmas! We never know exactly what will be in the boxes, so there’s always something new to discover,” Theresa said.
The Corry location is the only retail space, and 80% of the store’s haul is purchased via online shopping, through live video sales conducted on Tuesday nights on 6 Little Monkey’s private Facebook group of nearly 5,000 members. All you have to do is join the group to participate.
Once a month, the store offers 25% off for anything purchased with cash. Credit and debit cards are always accepted with a $10 minimum.
Born and raised in Corry and a former rotarian, Theresa believes in supporting fellow local businesses, so every month, anyone who makes a purchase gets a chance for a gift certificate to a local shop, like Corry Bar & Grille, Peace Bee and others. At the end of the month, Theresa picks a raffle winner as a way to pay it forward in her hometown.
In summer, the store holds a farmer’s market every Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. until October. Featuring handmade items like corn and honey from local vendors, the market includes a food truck from local restaurateur Lisa Cox.
6 Little Monkeys is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The retail store is closed Sunday and Monday.
