For antique shoppers, or those looking for an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary home decor, The Green-Eyed Lady in Downtown Edinboro is a hidden gem. Owner Stephanie Gradler started the business in 2015, in the old Zindel’s Hardware. She chose the name from her love of the color green and the song “Green Eyed Lady,” a one-hit wonder for the band Sugarloaf in 1970.
Gradler’s grandmother influenced her as a child with an interest in vintage items, aesthetics and history. She is happy to answer any questions about her vintage and shabby chic inventory, the most popular of which are chairs, sofas and rugs, though she also has clothing, Depression glass, framed art by local artists, jewelry, vinyl records, books, antique kitchenware and more.
Those who stop in can expect a friendly customer experience. “I love it when college students come into the store — they are interested and curious,” Gradler said, “it’s fun to teach somebody something when they ask about a particular item.” Gradler learns something new every day from her customers, and believes we all continue to learn as we age.
The busiest time is summer, when customers include those visiting from all over the world. The store’s current hours are Sunday & Monday from 12 to 5 p.m.; all other days by appointment or by chance. The store accepts cash or Venmo only.
